We Ruined Board Game Night.

Last year, we hosted a dinner party. The usual thing. Good food, good wine, someone suggests Codenames, everyone pretends to be excited.

Then a friend said: "What if we did a murder mystery instead?"

We found a kit online. It was fine. A little generic. The characters didn't quite fit our group. One friend had to sit out because there weren't enough roles.

But here's the thing: it was still the best dinner party we'd ever thrown.

People didn't leave at 10. They stayed until 1am, arguing about alibis. Someone actually slammed their hand on the table during an accusation. We still talk about it.

And we thought: what if this was better? What if the mystery actually fit your group? What if you could name the characters after your actual friends? What if the killer was someone's real personality, turned up to eleven?

You tell us your theme. Your group size. Whether you want silly or serious. You can even tell us about your friends' quirks—we'll work them into the characters. (Your friend who's always late? Perfect suspect motivation.)

The result is a mystery that feels like it was written specifically for your party. Because it was.

The boring stuff (that we care about a lot)

Every mystery we generate gets tested before you see it. The clues add up. The timeline makes sense. The killer can actually be caught with the information provided.

This sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised how many mysteries have plot holes. We find them before your guests do.

We also make sure every character has something to do. No one sits in the corner waiting for their one clue. Everyone has secrets. Everyone has goals. Everyone has reasons to lie.
